What is buffalo ridge wind farm?

Buffalo Ridge Wind Farm is a wind energy project located in the southwest corner of Minnesota, United States. It was commissioned in 2000 and is one of the largest wind farms in the Midwest, consisting of 134 wind turbines with a total capacity of 225 MW. The wind turbines are spread across 50 square miles of farmland in Lincoln County and Pipestone County.

The wind farm was developed and is operated by NextEra Energy Resources, one of the largest renewable energy companies in North America. It generates enough clean and renewable energy to power over 80,000 homes, reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 500,000 tons per year.

Buffalo Ridge Wind Farm has had a significant positive impact on the local economy, creating jobs during construction and operation and providing a source of steady revenue for landowners who lease their land for the wind turbines. Additionally, the project contributes to the state's goal of generating 25% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2025.
